The Domaine des Pierrettes is situated by the Loire River, nestled between the renowned Loire Valley castles of Amboise, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Chambord, and Chenonceau.
As owner-growers for several years, the Domaine des Pierrettes currently cultivates various emblematic grape varieties of Touraine on its 25 hectares of vines.
Sauvignon, flourishing in an ideal terroir characterized by clay-with-flint soil, expresses all its aromas with citrus notes.
Gamay allows the vineyard to craft fresh and fruity rosés, along with light and gourmet red wines.
Côt, a distinctive grape variety native to the region, yields unique wines that are vibrant in color and rich in tannins.
Since 2018, Domaine des Pierrettes has taken responsibility for protecting the vineyard's environment. Hence, we are progressively transitioning towards more sustainable agriculture and the production of natural wines.
Various actions have been implemented:
Let's discuss the vineyard
Promotion of biodiversity:
- Beehives have been installed on our land adjacent to the vineyards.
- We allow grass to grow around the fields to preserve natural habitats for insects.
- Initiatives to add hedges and fruit trees commenced in 2021.
Respectful soil treatment:
- We refrain from using chemical weedkillers, as they are harmful to microorganisms and soil life.
- Instead, we employ mechanical weeding to enhance soil aeration and water penetration.
HVE label and biological conversion:
- We exclusively use environmentally friendly products that respect wildlife.
- Our minimal treatments ensure vine protection while prioritizing safety for all.
- These practices have earned us the HVE label, and we are currently undergoing organic agriculture conversion.
Regarding the wines
Integration of modernity and tradition:
- We produce typical Loire Valley Wines while incorporating new technologies and processes to ensure a consistently high-quality product.
- While maintaining and cultivating traditional grape varieties such as Sauvignon, Gamay, Chenin, and Côt, we are experimenting with planting new varieties typically found in warmer climates, starting with Viognier due to the observed rise in temperature.
- Our packaging is designed to blend modern aesthetics with traditional charm, as we believe that a good wine should enhance any dining experience.
Embracing natural winemaking:
- Practices such as chaptalization and the use of wood chips are prohibited. Even sulfur is used sparingly.
- The Sine Sulfuris range is vinified without the addition of sulphites from harvest to bottling, available in White, Rosé, and Red varieties.
